In October 2018, our association sent a delegation of three to Dêrik to get to know the city and the region and to establish direct contacts. A partnership agreement was signed with the Municipality of Dêrik which regulates the work between the town administrations of Dêrik and our town twinning association.
In June 2019, a delegation from Dêrik visited Berlin. The mayors of Dêrik, Rojin Çeto and Feremez Hammo, and the mayor of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Monika Herrmann, officially signed the town twinning agreement at a ceremony in the Kreuzberg town hall. The twinning association organised an extensive programme of visits for the mayors from the twin city to introduce them to initiatives and projects and to enable direct exchange with people in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.
