Berivan Hussain and Ciwan Hassan, the two co-chairs of the Dêrik city administration, gave an interview to the Rojava Information Centre in February 2024 about their city’s twinning with Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.
They thanked us for the donations that have already made a number of projects in and around Dêrik possible. And they thank the association for raising public project funds.
But above all, Berivan and Ciwan emphasised how much this partnership gives them strength in the face of the constant threats and attacks, not only in Dêrik, but for everyone in north-east Syria:
